I was in a car accident this afternoon. A car made a left turn in front of me into a lane to go onto a bridge. The car stopped with the back end still partially across my lane. I wasn't able to stop in time and hit his car. The side of his car was dented and the right front of mine is smashed, headlight smashed etc.
I wasn't driving very fast but started feeling a lot of pain by the time the police arrived.
Likely just soft tissue damage, I have taken pain meds recommended by the pharmacist, and am hoping that this doesn't mean a year or so of pain and physio.
I was rear-ended in the past and spent a couple of years in extreme pain and in physiotherapy
Really really don't want to go through that again.
Very discouraged ... I have $1000 deductible on my car so .....
and now my insurance costs will likely go up :(

At least the car is drivable, as I am out ratsitting at godmothers .... presently looking after 54 rats.
Good thing I am relatively ok .... don't know who else would have been able to step in and care for them all if the accident had been worse.

Oh hunny how horrible! I too shall hope its just soft tissue damage...you don't need anymore troubles! Can you take a hot bath to see if it works out some of the soreness?

People are so much in a hurry these days and many don't even pay attention with their gadgets and such. I'm so glad it wasn't any worse... and I'll keep you in my prayers so that you don't feel worse either.

How awful for you! Can you try to get back your deductible from the idiot who caused te problem, taking him to Small Claims Court?

Just another example of where the innocent party pays the price. Hope you are feeling better today.

I feel your pain SQ! :hugs:

I was in a car accident a month ago. I rear ended the car in front of me and the total damage to both cars was $15K ($4K to mine and $11K to hers).

The accident was clearly my fault and my deductible is $2500. I am now so broke that I just bought a toothbrush on installment plan.

It doesn't sound to me, however, as if this accident was your fault. He cut you off and his car was in two lanes! You may really want to ask an attorney.

I fully agree with Godmother on this.

:hugs: I am sorry this happened to you Holly. injuries aside, the car issue and insurance stuff sucks royally. your insurance could decide this was due to the other driver' negligencee aand go after their insurance. I have badly totaled two cars and been in a few minor collissions. I feel your pain sweetie. Try not to stress to much right now and just take good care of yourself.

Hope your feeling better. Those accidents you see coming are the worse cause you tense up. Unfortunately, if you hit someone behind the passenger front door they usually find you at fault cause they think you have time to stop even if the idiot turned infront of you!! At least around here they do - that failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident thing - :gaah:

Sorry you were in an accident - it is always so stressful even if you aren't hurt. I hope that a few long soaks in the tub have helped loosen up those sore muscles...

In pain but pain meds are helping ..... heat helps too.

Hopefully I will not be found at fault ... I wasn`t going very fast but didn`t have time to stop when he pulled across the road.
The police didn`t charge me so hopefully that means something ...

Hope you're feeling better. :hugs:
I got in a car accident in September. Totaled my mom's car
It was traumatizing but we somehow made it out alright.

I did however get pretty bad neck and shoulder pain, but it left within a few days.

Let's hope that the idiot has done this before. If he has a record, it could be beneficial for you.

Had a guy tailgate me this week. He was so close that I couldn't even see his headlights. I reduced my speed to 5mph and royally pissed him off. :cheeky:

Some people need to "grow a set" and then be neutered.... male and female alike...(HUH??? :giggle: )

Thanks ... reported it to my insurance company today.
I sounds like it will be determined to be the other person's fault which means it shouldn't effect my insurance rates or my dectuable.
I have a doctors appointment next week so hopefully I will get whatever I need to start feeling better
