Today we lost Pinkie's cagemate, Lily .. she and Pinkie were our two sweetest of the sweet girls. Mama Lily (as we called her) always worried about everyone else first ..when anyone was sick, she was checking on them and if she was given a treat she would often push half of it thru the bars of the cage next to her and share with her neighbor ..

She had a pretty longterm battle with health - she was our girl who had developed tumors .. the vet was working on other aspects of her health before we looked at surgery (we were told she was not a good candidate for implant as she had a bunch of tumors crop up quickly and grow fast)

her quality of life had started to decline and we had just made the decision to have her PTS next week before it got worse .. we wanted one more week with our little one and we didnt get it but im thankful for every day we did have with her and im thankful she went peacefully in her sleep on her own

how bittersweet to lose u, my baby .. so glad u arent suffering anymore but what a large void u have left in our hearts and our lives

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts .. the other babies in the rat room and even the cats are very subdued and grieving .. mama lily was the girl who made an impact on everyone in the house and who was nurturing to all - be it 4 legged, 2 legged, furred or not .. she is very greatly missed ..
