In the article: "Rats will come and sit on your lap and have their heads and ears and tummies scratched. They are never grouchy and they want to hang out with you. Once you have had a rat, your heart will forever walk outside your body."

AMEN

We love them because they have such a talent for joy! (and it's contagious) :bliss:
And those that have suffered or are suffering are the most amazing little troopers. :horsepoop:
And because they are interested in us. And even those that come to us avoiding us or biting :stickpoke: will let us know they love us given enough time & security :cuddle: - if they pass before they do it's only that they meant to but thought they still had time. :cry3:
They are pure of heart & deed. :flowers3: There is no machination or plotting. Stealing is just spur-of-the-moment up-front-honest "I want that". Physical lashing out at us is only self-protection, and at cagemates the same or a need to protect them all by keeping the heirarchy.

They are totally honest, they are just themselves, and they allow us to be the same with them. And in their beauty being themselves they even inspire us to recognize our own beauty in just being ourselves.
They remind us that as different as each one is (as we are) each & every one is equally - if differently -loveable. :)
