Everytime you get bit, you should try sqeaking, make the same sound that they make if they were being played with too roughly by a cage-mate. It tells them "Hey! don't do that, it hurts" and most rats get the point pretty quickly. It's easier with babies but ay rat can learn. If you keep squeaking and squealing and they won't stop Then remove your hand so that they learn that bites=no hands. If they bite during out time and don't stop when you squeak, I've found that giving them a scruffing for a couple of seconds usually helps quite a bit since it calms them and then you can work with an unbusy mind. I try to scruff only when I have tried squeaking at least 5 times and it isn't helping.
