I would just give it to the rat as soon as you can. Since a heart condition isn't as reliant on pred than say a stroke, or PT, it shouldn't have much effect on the problem.

This is what I found on a site about pred but for humans:

What do I do if I miss a dose? (does not apply to patients in the hospital)

• Take a missed dose as soon as possible.

• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular schedule.

• Do not take a double dose or extra doses.

• Do not change dose or stop medicine. Talk with healthcare provider.

On another site, it states if you miss a dose, contact your veterinarian to determine the next dose.

Wish I could be more help. :(

Don't be hard on yourself if you missed a dose, ok?
The instructions are fine-tuned for optimal benefit and should be followed. But a missed medicinal dose is not going to kill a kid unless it's a life-sustaining drug and I don't know of a a single one for ratties. Give it as soon as possible. But if the kid had a setback don't blame yourself or the late drug administration, ok? Prednisone is not going to save or kill a kid with an extra dose or a missed one.
