Poorly Eye

My PEW has a bad eye again..i got told that saline was the best thing to use but the bottle i had is out of date and now i can't find anywhere that sells it. Can i use anything else?

Can you tell us whats wrong with her eye again?

I often use human-grade eye ointment myself

I like to use polysporin eye/ear drops but I see you are in England, I'm not sure if you have the same thing.
If it's just porphyrin (red crust/staining) you could try gently washing it with warm water. A saline/water mix can be done at home. I forget what the ratio is, I'll have to do a search.

Harry's got something up with his eyes too. He's the hairless. It looks like they're clouding over, almost like a catarak....

My vet has told me that the clouding over is similar to a cataract but not exactly, it can be part of aging.

Can I use anything? I've been giving him warm compresses. I guess it will be another trip to the vet again.

If it's because of aging, there's nothing to do. How old is your sweetie?

Absolutely no idea. He was rescued from Guelph I believe?

There's nothing that can be done really... it doesn't affect the rat either. They don't seem to mind it at all.
