My friend asked me this question and I couldn't give her an answer. She will be painting her bathroom and her boys are in the livingroom on the same floor about 5-10 steps away from the bathroom. She must paint the bathroom and it might take a few days. She's wondering if the paint fumes will be harmful to her boys. I could take them in while she does this but if they are ok where they are that would be best.

You can buy paint safe with babies, that would be the best for rats.
If she can't, then make sure to ventilate and maybe put a blanket over the rats when she paints or move them to the farthest part of the home.

I know paint fumes are very toxic to birds and with the resp issues rats seem to have I would move the rats as far away as possible. IMO
