New cage insert

I'm hoping to make another cage floor to insert into my cage. Think CN style. The cage that I have came with 2 metals levels, but since it's so tall, it can perfectly accommodate another full level.

I'm hoping to make the level out of wood, but I'd need to seal it with some kind of varnish or overlay it with laminate tiles. What varnish is pet safe? (Just in case they try to chew on it.)

I don't know what varnish is safe
but I have had a lot of luck making levels out of covered cooling racks
You might consider making it out of well constructed strong cooling racks covered with a pan, chloroplast etc
