The Travelin' Rat's May 2013 Rescue of the Month is Given A Chance Hamster Rescue in Allentown, PA!
Given a Chance Hamster Rescue is a small family run rescue based in
Allentown, Pa that mainly takes in hamsters, gerbils and rats. We started in
January 2004, we do not have a large intake, we try to keep our numbers down to
best help all the little ones that come our way. Most of our fosters come from
shelters or the general public in the way of owner surrenders. Currently we
have 4 hamsters and 3 rats looking for homes with a possible fourth rat coming
in this weekend. The rats we currently have in are the African soft fur rats
which are unusual for us and are proving hard to adopt out, however we are also
making sure we find them the best possible home we can. We try to educate
people on adopting small animals rather than buying from pet stores. Too many
small animals are turned into the shelters and rescues every day and many
people do not realize this. We use two web sites to help our fosters find their
forever homes:
