I lost my dainty, sweet, darling maple tonight. She was one of the sweetest girls I had so kissy & when you picked her up she just loosened up she was so trusting. Even when she was sick the past couple days she gave me kisses. She was probably around a year in a half, way too young yet again. I named her maple, because she always smelled like syrup to me. Flower was cuddled with her the whole time trying to help, but the meds didn't seem to help. I'm pretty sure she had a heart problem. She was a surrender and they were from petco I think, but such sweeties. I don't think I will be taking in any rats for a while losing 3 within 2 weeks has really taken a toll on me.

Be strong sweetie. I know it's hard but Maple is in good hands and loving you from her cloud on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

I had a terrible time when I lost Jerry and I still suffer over my little rat man because I feel as if it was my fault he died. Nevertheless, I knew that there were other precious little souls out there in need of love and care.

Maple's passing had nothing to do with the wonderful care she received from you. No one can take that away from either of you. The passing of a loved one is always painful for those of us who are left behind but it is the love that Maple took with her that counts. You did beautifully with your "children" Ratmom and those you have escorted to the bridge know that they are safe in your heart.

Follow your heart Ratmom. If you should "stumble" over another precious little soul... take the little life form home with you. Chances are that the
rat(s) that come your way will have been guided to you by those who know what a treasure you are. :rose:
