same stuff I bought at my Home Depot, are you in Canada???
My husband is putting the new green hardware cloth on now. We bought four rolls and they were $8 but for only 2ft x 5ft.

I don't know what kind of modifications you want to make, but have you talked to your shelter about useless cages critters come in that they just toss out? Or look on the net for cheap or free ones.
If you have a dremel you can cut & smooth sections of them to fit your purpose and they are usually made of something that is cage-worthy.
