I have a quetion about free feeding. I've talked to my vet and she suggested I go back to free feeding now that I'm giving them Oxbow but I really have no idea how much my rats eat in a day yet. At least not with the Oxbow. Would it be a good idea to fill up the bowl every few days and monitor the stashes in the cage to make sure there is always some food in the cage? Or should I just give small amounts of food daily? I think it might be a better idea to fill up the bowl every few days but would that cause the food to go stale if its sitting around for that long?

BTW everyone stashes their food in a clean spot...in hammocks or boxes or under their blankets...I don't have any litter box stashers so food contamination is not an issue for me.

Mine won't stash the Oxbow, it's not precious enough. :giggle:
But I fill my bowl every couple of days, there's always a bit of Oxbow left before I add more. My gang get two HT block each and they are free fed Oxbow.
