Lately my girls seem to have itchy skin. They have been scratching more that usual and I'v been looking for bugs but don't see any. I know mites can't be seen without a mircoscope but I don't want to consider that just yet...do rats get dry itchy skin in the winter time? I know some people do so why not rats?

The best way to find buggies is to look for scabs. Mites are so small you won't see them.

But ya, rats can have dryer skin in the winter.

I'm needing to look into this myself. Emma seems a tad scratchier, and no scabs on any of them (well, one on Lucille but I am pretty certain that's from a recent disagreement between them)

Thanks for reminding me I have a humidifier I can steal from work.
