We have a little bird shop here in my town that has AWESOME toys (they cater to exotics like macaws, hyacinths, etc. but have a great selection of "little bird" toys that are perfect for my girls!) While I was poking arounf in there today, though, I was noticing alot of coconut shells used for foraging toys, and tops to hanging toys. I wasn't sure if they'd be rat appropriate, though, because of the fibers....What do you guys think?

I've got one too, they played with it in the beginning but then left it alone. I have bought real coconuts and given them pieces and they loved it.

I had the hanging one and I put treats in them during out time. Eventually they chewed the rope attaching them all together. They did chew the shell once it was on the floor though. But it's not a favorite.
