I was just thinking, because everyone says that unaltered boys and girls should not live in the same house together. But I was just wondering, what if two boys lived in the basement, and two girls lived upstairs (I live in a bungalow). Anyways, the basement is obviously finished and its where me and my sister live. My bedroom would be on the opposite side of the house as to where the girls would be on the upper level. Would the scent still bother the males, or would that distance be enough? What if I closed off the vent from my bedroom or something? Would that work too? I called around different vets, and its between 275 and 300$ to neuter one male rat, and i dont have that kind of money to just throw around atm, considering we're also going to be getting a puppy in a few days time, and ill be responsible for the food and vet costs. So anyways as I was saying, would it be safe if I had the boys on a different level, opposite side of the house, even have the vent closed, away from the girls, or would it still be too dangerous? I dont know what else we could possibly do because we have all become attached to the babies already, and wouldnt want to give them away. (Right now we have just two, one male, and one female, but since they cant live together, we are obviously getting one more male and one more female so they can keep eachother company)
