I didn't write this but I had to share it.
we love them for the way their
whiskers flutter 'cross our cheeks
we love them for their squeaks and bruxing
and the many other ways they speak
we love them for the way they hold
their treats with perfect little paws
we even love them for the way they chew
through our clothes like mini buzzing saws
we love them for their lion yawns
and for their tiny kisses
we love them because when they're around
there is no need for extra wishes
we love them though their time is short
and it hurts so bad to see them crossing bridges
so when tears roll down our faces
and we begin to question why
we must remember all the reasons that we love them
and know that in our hearts they'll always lie
