    Rocky Gone to Heaven

I lost my rat rocky a few days ago. Woke up and my son told me he had died, when I went to check I found it was true. I was so heartbroken from the loss. He was a survivor and encountered multiple infections that the other rats never got, and even had a head tilt from one of them. we had him for...

    Pig Feed?

OK the reason I ask is the local pets store near me feeds that to their rats and have for years apparently. I was just comparing ingredients for example Mazuri Pig feed: Ground corn, wheat middlings, dehulled soybean meal, ground oats, dehydrated alfalfa meal, ground soybean hulls, dried...

    Pig Feed?

I've seen a lot of forums for breeder using pig feed to feed the rats they have an having good results. I guess they range from 13-16% protein and pretty close to rat blocks as far as ingredients are concerned. Any opnions on this? the biggest advantage obviously is a 50 pound bag is about 16 bucks.

    Broken colony

Thats what i figured. he had a lot of thinning on his back too which has grown back as well. He is the victim of all the abuse from the other 3 rats.

    Broken colony

Thank you all for all the replys! I usually do the blocks but the place i usually go to was out of inventory so i had to do that. As for the hair loss, its since all grown back so that why i was convinced it was grooming and he was the only one with any skin or hair conditions but ive posted...

    Broken colony

Hey guys I've posted on and off about the same thing but it was never really a serious issue. Tonight however I had to separate my oldest rat Rocky from the rest of the group. He is about a year older and and over the last 6 months has become the main Target for being picked on. I've recently...

    Self Barbering?

My oldest rat Rocky has been having some issues with hair loss lately and I'm beginning to get concerned. it started towards his rump with no scabs so I figured it was just aggressive barbering and recently I've seen the hair on his front legs and chest has gone completely. There are no scabs at...

    Head Tilt - Tumor?

Alright thanks! I've had rats for around 19 years since i was around 10 and never had any health problems except the occasional sniffle and one stroke, until rocky got this ear thing. Its pretty new territory for me lol

    Need help with bullying!

Thank you all for the wonderful advice. The problem seems to have been helped a lot. I got a larger cage (prevue feisty ferret) and put multiple food dishes as well as adopted two younger companions. Remy hasn't picked on Rocky at from what I can tell and the scrabs on his ears has stopped. They...

    Need help with bullying!

Awesome thank you. It's not mites I can tell that much since it's only on the tips and I've seen remy biting them rather frequently. I will definitely try putting more food in there since I feed them once a day before I leave for work and see if that helps with the hoarding. The hoarding got so...

    Need help with bullying!

Our rat rent was purchased young and was a pretty mellow guy. We've handled him regularly since we got him (he was probably about a month old) we have an old rat who is around a year old that we introduced him to and there were no issues for several months. About 2 weeks ago remy (the younger...
