Poorly front paw

Hi I'm new to here but have seen some really useful posts so thought I would give it a go!

My rat is coming up 2 and been fit and healthy all his life, today when I arrived home from work he seems to be holding his left front paw up and not putting much weight on it, I've given him some metacam which h i had from my old rat who sadly passed away a month ago. Do you think it's a sprain or should I be more worried?

Is it swollen or red? It sounds like it’s most likely a sprain, which they can recover from in a few days. If you search the forum for sprains you can find a few posts with photos or videos to compare to your guy. One of my guys had a possibly sprained foot. I gave him children’s ibuprofen 2-3 times a day for the first couple of days.. it took about a week but he completely recovered.

No isn't swollen or red but is warm to touch he seems after 2 days of metacam that hes using it more and seems a bit happier when out of his cage, so fingers crossed a small sprain. Thank you

if there's little swelling, it could have been up in the shoulder or it was just a mild sprain for the leg. Metacam was definitely the way to go Smart boy for not using it and letting it heal.
