My cage looked so empty after Evie died. I was down to three rats for the first time in probably eight years.

I was planning to adopt a lonely senior girl from Moncton SPCA. Unknown to me, she had been sent to Miramichi SPCA about two weeks ago and adopted a day later. She had lovely colouring, which made her easily adoptable, and I hope that her new owners know how to care for an older girl.

Moncton later sent more rats to Miramichi, one of whom was a lone girl. So I didn't know who to expect when I got up there this morning. Miramichi called to let me know that the older girl had been adopted already.

She was a sweet, and not at all senior, little black dumbo hoodie. She's quite thin, and I know nothing of her history. The SPCAs are so swamped with cats that they don't have much time for getting animal histories and, for all I know, she could have been dumped at the door in a box.

She likes being petted, and she is not afraid to be picked up, so I think that she will make a lovely friend for Valentine and for the other girl I am about to adopt. And Jenny and Susie will benefit from some more friends. I might still keep my eye out for an older ratty.

Here is Hadley sleeping in the carrier. I will post better photos once she wakes up. LOL, the photo is upside down.

Awww, so happy about this! Yes, hard to see much in the photo, but I already love her! And the name Hadley is wonderful! She sound like a lovely lady indeed and so glad you took her in! Looking forward to more pics!

Welcome Home Miss Hadley! :hugs:

Hadley loves exploring the playpen, especially the Cozy Corner triple-decker. She has discovered the big Xtreme
Critter Revolution wheel.

SQ pointed out that Hadley looks just like the rat named Tally on Momcton SPCA's website. I would love to know what happened to her cagemate Rodentia (a PEW). I'd have adopted the PEW in a heartbeat.

Here is Hadley in the playpen.

I can add photos from my iPad but not
My phone. Dunno why. So I will go to Tapatalk to add them.

WEIRDER AMD WEIRDER: it added one but not the other. Here goes...

I'm not equipped to do quarantine, although I have Hadley downstairs in the playpen for the night and I gave her Revolution to be safe. Patty has been with SQ, and she seems very healthy.

It's always a risk that one day I'll end up with SDA. Hope that day never comes.

Yeah, I have never done a real QT. But I also have never taken a rat from a pet store, which I would consider the greatest risk. The SPCA is a lower risk, but they still get exposed to different rats. I think we are pretty lucky around the Maritimes.

Hadley is loving the playpen, where she has been running on both wheels and slept in most of the hammocks. This morning she had the traditional Sunday porridge. She climbs well, and she has stashed all the blocks inside the igloo.

She adores the Cosy Corner and TheRatStash hammocks! All she needs now is some friends.

Aww, it sounds like Hadley is having a blast exploring all her fun new toys, wheels and hammocks! A busy girl and her new photos are heartwarming...she is in a wonderful new world with a happy home now, hurray! At least she is being kept very busy and happy while she waits for friends!
