My cage looked so empty after Evie died. I was down to three rats for the first time in probably eight years.
I was planning to adopt a lonely senior girl from Moncton SPCA. Unknown to me, she had been sent to Miramichi SPCA about two weeks ago and adopted a day later. She had lovely colouring, which made her easily adoptable, and I hope that her new owners know how to care for an older girl.
Moncton later sent more rats to Miramichi, one of whom was a lone girl. So I didn't know who to expect when I got up there this morning. Miramichi called to let me know that the older girl had been adopted already.
She was a sweet, and not at all senior, little black dumbo hoodie. She's quite thin, and I know nothing of her history. The SPCAs are so swamped with cats that they don't have much time for getting animal histories and, for all I know, she could have been dumped at the door in a box.
She likes being petted, and she is not afraid to be picked up, so I think that she will make a lovely friend for Valentine and for the other girl I am about to adopt. And Jenny and Susie will benefit from some more friends. I might still keep my eye out for an older ratty.
Here is Hadley sleeping in the carrier. I will post better photos once she wakes up. LOL, the photo is upside down.
