So I got this cage for my boys. Because all I had a small bird cage about size of a cat carrier. I know its not the best cage but it was on craigslist, I'm on TIGHT budget due to I'm off work for 2months. Plus landlord limited the size of cage. So I've looked since I got them. So I got the Super Pet Deluxe Rat Habitat. Paid $25 Dollars normally $120.00 here at my Petco. Here's the cage in the add. The pics she took. So I got it today meet her at a public place. She had cage all together with a box in bottom with with all the extras in the pics. After she left I heard a noise in the box while driving home...opened it up and found this....:tantrum: grrrr she never advertised a rat included.
he's a male and I think a Hooded Rex but a Poor Rex...he's sneezing ALOT!!!! So I grabbed a extra Petco Box from My trunk and put him in it with a blanket......
Anything I can do for poss. URI until I can go to Vet.
I'm guessing Maybe 4 months or so, not huge but not small either.

WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?! THAT IS INSANE!
Jesus, was she thinking that she is being smart or sly with this?! GOD people are D U M B. He could have gotten hurt, but not like SHE cares!!!

OBVIOUSLY if you are having to buy a cage, you don't have enough room to house your own rat, not to mention hers which she was TOO LAZY AND DUMB to include in the post! Jeez, I bet that was so intentional. Hiding it in a box, meeting in a public place.

"How do I completely screw someone over, get rid of my responsibility which I got bored of or something, AND make 20 bucks? OH I KNOW! :lol7: "

Oh well, I'm glad to see him in your hands, at least.

Wow,good thing you heard him! He is a black hooded, but I don't see any curly whiskers so I don't see rex. Poor little guy....

Very little curl in whiskers, but his hair coat is rough and not smooth its kinda "Frizzy" so any idea what hair coat is you can see it in the close up Picture....

That sounds like a rare breed of the not-scritched-'nough rattus norvegicus, I heard they are found in great numbers on the CrapusOwnerus islands, and have been known to hide out on ships and other forms of transportation as stowaways, hoping for a better life.

(Translation: Tee hee, it kind of just looks like he has a rough coat from possibly bad diet, stress, or his respiratory issues. My Matilda looks and feels like that sometimes, and Oreo did a bit right out of her surgery. I find that a nice, long pet makes it nice and soft pretty quickly. <3 )

Since you are on a budget...have you thought of mixing up bird doxy to start him on? It is very cheap and comes off the same pharmaceutical lines as human grade meds.

I think once you get him on a good diet and some proper meds if you think he is sick you will beable to see what kind of coat he really has.

He's a poor rex and super duper cute. How very irresponsible of that person. wow. He's lucky he landed with you.
Sneezing is not so bad, specially if he was in a bad environment before. Like dspch911 mentions, he might get better with just good food and nice clean habitat.

He looks like a basic uncared for not feed enough coat rat. He will get a better coat on a good diet and he will probably be just a plain coated boy. Although the boys i have are rex but their whiskers are pretty straight but you can see it in their fur. THey were starved and losing hair when I got them in and it was difficult to tell anything.

I am just totally dumbfounded that one would sell a cage and not talk about the rat in there it really pisses me off because what if they didnt look? or what if they didnt like rats. He could of ended up in such horrible hands but I am glad by a glimmer of hope he ended up in good hands. Poor baby that person is a horrible person to just dump him like that.

Poor baby, beautiful but thin boy.
Good food and love .... and if still sneezing in several days (or it gets worse) then baytril from the vet

Sneezing must have been from Bedding Used Carefresh and it went right away, He was on aspen at first. gaining weight well and He is going to a new home next week, He didn't get along well with my boys, he tried to attach them everything time I tried to intro them. They were scared of him....But he is going to a good home next tuesday. And I just ended up with 2 more rescues so I posted a new thread about them

Wow, how crazy was that?! What if you just took the cage home and tossed it in the garage or something for a month. Then the rat would have starved to death! Friggin' idiots...
I am so glad to hear you took care of him and are making sure he gets a good home. You rock!

That poor baby...I cannot believe this woman did this. Did you try to contact her again to tell her what a waste of life she is? Or to verbally knock her into a wall? (a bit enraged here, sorry). This boy won the lottery by landing with a caring person (you) and oh god it could have been horrible if he had ended up in a bad situation, or like the other person said, thrown into a garage or something with the person not knowing there was a living, breathing animal in there. I could just strangle that woman. I hope you have a way to contact her again to tell her how horrible it was for her to do that!

I would love to see follow up on this sweet boy...is it possible the person he is being adopted by could send you a report or some photos, to let you know how he does?

Wow, I can't believe someone would just do that. That's ridiculous, the poor boy!
I'm glad he is with you now though, he has such a sweet little face.
