Horatio came to us last summer. He was an ad on craiglist in which we knew was a breeder. I called told them I would take all the boys. If I didnt they would go to the first snake owner that came. In total we got 9 babies and 2 adults. The woman wasn't going to let me take him. Out of all these rats, I had to promise not to feed him off. I told her, "I only feed my rats veggies not turn them into a meal."

I have had to fight him for meds his entire time here. Just within the last two weeks he finally stopped and started taking the meds. Most of my scars on my arms are from him fighting me.

He was always perfect during intros. The funny thing is when he first came here, he would sit in the corner shaking. Hated it. Then he just stopped it and was perfect after. I never did neuter him. He never hurt one of my boys. He was a perfect male.

When they came out at night, they wouldnt feel comfortable till I put up the fort. LOL then they would come out of the cage. Very spoiled ratties.

This boy never has been sick. I took him to the vet his heart was fine. I had no answers about what happened to him or why he lost weight. We spoiled him and he has had extra out time this week so his time was well spent. He ate his ensure this morning and this afternoon I found he had passed. He never became my best friend he stayed away. He did come running when I called his name and he did allow me to finally pet his head just last week, he gave my finger a little lick.

I am glad I took these boys in, as difficult as it was to grow by 11 over night. I adjust fast and they adjusted well. His buddy Tart will miss him, I hope that he recovers smoothly from losing him. I am so sad that he is gone but incredibliy thank that he was here for the year that he was.

Rest well my little man, Your tired body can sleep now and your incredibly young soul can play again. We will miss your dearly.

I'm so sorry for your loss, he was such a beautiful boy  Rest in Peace Horatio, you were a lucky boy to end up in such a loving home after what you went through.

I'm so sorry Peggy. He was such a handsome young man. :sad3:

May you take comfort in knowing that your boy spent his happiest times with you.

It takes a selfless person to take in an entire group to prevent them from becoming snake food.

Horatio's cloud must be overflowing with pictures of you. :love6:

Naked's make my heart melt. :thud:
Something about there goofy faces and lovely eyes.....
I am so sorry he left you so suddenly like that. :cuddle:
It's a shock that hurts just the same as a long drawn out illness.
You made his life so much better.
Thank you for that.
I know he does.

I am so sorry for your loss of Horatio. What a fine manrat he was! You gave him a wonderful life and a fitting memorial. RIP.

Somebody needs to nominate one of the photos for RPOM. I love the first one of him with the syringe, so I nominate that one.
