It seems like all I have these days is bad news.
I got Bluebell from lilratsy at the 2009 Rat Shack festivities at High Park. She was such a funny looking girl but so sweet. I'll admit though, one of the funniest moments with her was after my ex and I decided to split up, he went to pet her and she nipped him hard! It was the only time she ever bit anybody; guess she was just protecting her mama!
It was nearly impossible to introduce the three girls I got from lilratsy with the older girls I already had so I ended up splitting my FN into two cages. The younger rats totally adored the NY girls so they went with them. Bluebell (she later became affectionately known as "Boba"....not sure why!) was the dominant one of the group.
She developed two mammary tumors which were promptly removed by Dr Munn, along with the requisite spay and she was in excellent health until about two weeks ago. She started losing weight and had difficulty with mobility around the cage - however this never stopped her from getting into the hammock. We started feeding her from the hammock too since it was just easier for her and she didn't have to fight off the other rats.
She crossed the bridge while I was out of town for a wedding. My exhusband texted me to let me know she went peacefully and that her last meal was some of his fried rice. I took the 3 girls from lilratsy on a whim and I'm so glad I did!!
