So I'm looking for a playpen to use for the girls during out-time. My room is no longer completely free-range ratty friendly, and it's hard running all around the place during out-time, scooping up the strays. I'd like something that I can put them in while I'm doing chores like cleaning the cage, where I won't have to have my eye on the CONSTANTLY, though I'd also love to have something that I can sit inside with them. Something that can fold up for easy storage would also be HIGHLY appreciated! Any suggestions?

Some have those martin playpens and I really want one...they look awesome. I think SQ had one she had pictures of for her intros.......not 100% sure if it was her or not ...... Coroplast works good too, you can zip tie it together to box them in, just has to be tall rats can jump high lol

Two great ideas depending on what you want.
Cloroplast sheets cable tired together is likely what would work best for you if you want them to be able to climb onto furniture etc

I personally use my bed, a side table, and a bench connected. My boys are too afraid to jump off. It's perfect for cuddling and building forts with them. Only issue is if they are brave enough to make the leap...

Unfortunately my bed is too low to the ground, they can make a pretty easy leap to the floor :/ I've been using the coffee table in the livingroom, it's pretty spacious, but I can't leave them unattended on a table top, especially since I have cats in that part of the house.

Here is a picture of my large martins playpen.
I have half on the top flipped back for the picture.

It makes a great play area for the ratties, has a lid that prevents anyone from escaping, and allows them to have a play area they can enjoy without supervision. Hammocks, etc can be hung from the sides and the top.

Here are a couple of older pictures of my cloroplast free range area

rats need to be supervised but there is plenty of room for me and furniture.

Both can easily fold up for storage
