So, I ordered my Rat Manor cage yesterday, around 1 PM pacific time. Now, today, I've been checking my email for the shipping confirmation, and I get nothing, all day long. I decided to have a look-see at Petco.com right now and I have discovered that my cage went on back order today! Does this mean that I won't be getting my cage until it's back in stock? If I remember correctly, it was NOT on back order when I ordered it! I'm already dying of anticipation for this cage, and another 10 days will leave me dead! On another note, wouldn't Petco have notified me if the cage went on back order?? The only email I received was the purchase confirmation! And, when attempting to access the order status, I put in what you would think would be the right info, but it's not as I get nothing but a big "This information is not valid." Or something along those lines. It's just so frustrating! Anyway, thank you if you can answer. :p

Alright. I called customer service and the lady just told me to wait for information, as the order was just recently placed. I just want the 2 girls to still be at Petco and not be gone, as I'm relatively sure most people are buying the girls in the tank as feeders :'(

If you need to get the girls now, you could make a temporary bin cage or a carrier.

(Personally I would encourage you to adopt rats from a shelter, rescue or rats being rehomed - see craigs list or kijiji. That way you will be rescuing rats in need and not supporting pet stores and breeders. And the ratsrescued from these sources are likely rats that were originally purchased so helping pet store rats without supporting the breeding and selling of rats.)

Anyway, here is a link to building a carrier:

Thought I would post a few pictures as (imo) I improved the shelf in my temporary bin cage.

And a homemade carrier can be used as a very short term temporary cage and later used as a carrier for vet trips etc

Holes cut in sides & lid of plastic rubber maid container, baking cooling racks cable ties on for bars.

That is a neat-o idea for the carrier, and I will have to do that some time! I'm forced to wait until the cage is here, as I'm only 14 and my mom would just about kill me if I tried to even ask about getting them. As for adopting, I've been searching for months with no luck, although I wasn't allowed rats until last Sunday, but I've been researching for a few years now. I'm just annoyed that there is literally no communication from Petco on this stupid cage!

I looked up on google and got these:

If none of these are close, Maybe they can do a rat train?
