He hangs out on the top of the couch without his cone. When we try to put the cone on he has diarrhea poo and empties his bladder! Last night was daddy's turn to experience it :puke:  :-D

Oh poor Peanut! :(

He probably feels so happy having that cone off, then gets so upset when that thing goes back on, the poor guy. I feel so bad for him. How soon does he get to have that cone gone for good?

Keep taking pics and we'll let you know when its safe to remove the cone. Rats don't just hate cones they find them terrifying, as you have found out. The become very instinctual and can you imagine trying to get away from predators with that thing on?

Well, they said a week, but that to me is crazy! He has been in it since Monday. She doesn't want him getting his dirty paw (Ha ha Peanut is clean) in it and getting a brain infection.

Poor Peanut got a bath today from daddy.:shower: He was cover in urine from laying in it and not being able to groom. From what I here, him and daddy are not really on talking terms at the moment... :rofl4: Poor coconut is having a rough month....

How is the eye? Does he still have the cone?

How is the eye? Does he still have the cone?

Honestly, I worked 4a-4p yesterday only going home to eat/sleep and I'm back at work now for another 4a-4p shift. I only saw him to talk to him from a few feet away while looking over Bums. Daddy said its still open so he left the cone on. It will be on a week on Monday. I told him to take pictures so hopefully he did and I can post them when I get home. I do believe he took it off yesterday for awhile - if not it will come off when I get home since its much easier for the two of us to put it on him than just one person.

Well daddy did not get yesterday's pictures taken - seems he didn't hear me instruct him on picture taking... Peanut is out now giving himself one heck of a bath. It seems to me that the eye is collapsing in perhaps because the gel foam was removed. :praying: please don't let anything else be wrong. I will take pictures as soon as the big man is done bathing.... and well you know taking care of personal hygiene..

This is how it looks today, notice no cone... Mommy made the decision that the cone can stay off and Peanut is one happy ratman! He was especially happy to visit (on the couch) with Throttle and Axe for awhile. Daddy gave him a hanging snuggle sack in his pen and he ran right for it and will not come out. He stuck his head out for these pictures since we told him everybody was waiting to see how handsome he was looking especially since Mommy just brushed his hair for him.

Oh Dspch, he looks wonderful! I think he looks happier too, of course, with no cone and his snuggle sack...aww, happy Peanut boy! :love5: And be sure to tell him his fur looks VERY handsome in the photo! What a nice brushing he got!

So happy to see my nephew without the cone and looking very content to be free, and snuggled up in his snuggle sack. This made my DAY! :cheerful: Give Peanut a get well kiss from me, okay? (His eye looks sooo much better! I am sure it is mending fast!) Hurrah!!
:flowers4U:

That is looking better, but the skin is still a bit red/purplish. Is he still on antibiotics?
I'm sure he feels SO much better without the cone!

Yes he is chloroplam and (daddy would know) along with metacam and tramadol. We held off on the eye ointment since we didn't want him pawing at it with the cone off.

Vet called today (left message) his cultures are back and the infection he grew was related to fecal matter so some how the surgical site was contaminated with poo..... I have no idea why he would put poo in his eye socket after surgery, but apparently he thought it would be a good place to store it. :rofl4: He has his follow up tomorrow and she will probably change his antibiotics. I didn't even know daddy had his pus cultured - wonder how much that cost me! I really do find this one puzzling since I cleaned his cage daily - Oh Peanut!!!
