Another girl with PT! is it something I'm doing?

No worries it's not insensitive, I didn't really know until one of my babies got it. Better to ask questions and be in the know than be caught of guard

Another girl with PT! is it something I'm doing?

Thanks for your reply hopefloats. I'm sorry for you loss, poor little babes. It helps me to know that this is fairly common, at least it's nothing I'm directly doing. My 3 girls were the first I've ever had and though I had heard of tumor growth I didn't realize it was almost imminent as they...

Another girl with PT! is it something I'm doing?

No, none are related. 1 was a feeder, and two others were from a rescue originally from different places. That's why I was asking, the "coincidence" is killing me. I have 3 young ones that all came from the same litter, here's hoping it doesn't run in there genes too .

Another girl with PT! is it something I'm doing?

Hi all, I have another girl with PT, I lost 2 girls last month one to a very fast Progressing PT. Now our girl whose on the younger side of 2 has what I'm pretty certain is a PT. We will be going to the vet tommorow to try and treat it. I'm starting to feel like it's my fault...like I'm...

    Help with introduction behaviour

Thanks Jorats, for confirming my suspicions! We'll obviously still be guarded and watchful, but it lessens my fears a bit.

    Cats, rats and pasteurella?

Pasteurella species are part of the normal oral flora of cats. You can come in contact with it, through fecal-oral, or infected secretions, and through the air provided the cat has sneezed. Its because of this they tend to tell women to not clean kitty litter when pregnant. Now with all this...

    Help with introduction behaviour

I should also add, that she has not left the area where the 3 little ones are. She cant sleep where they are because they found a little nest where she cant fit, but she has found the closest possible place to sleep near them, which I assume is a good thing. Earlier she was sleeping on her side...

    Help with introduction behaviour

Thanks for the reply Jorats, Yeah I jumped the gun, but I was 99% sure she was going to react well and 1% that she would run away from them and was on the ready with a towel/ husband for quick extraction. Turned out even better than I had hoped. The pinning worries me only because I don't know...

    Help with introduction behaviour

Hey All, A little back story first :I have lost two girls in the last week, needless to say its been a rough transition, for me and our girl Joule. She's roughly 2, and is/was? a very timid little girl. I say little because compared to the two who passed she's always been the smallest and the...

    Ear Infection, Tumor, Stroke? HELP!!

Thanks everyone for the kind regards. I never thought a rat would hold such a strong place in my heart, and the sadness now that she's gone is unbearable. And now to know that my other baby with the tumor is not far from the same fate is heart wrenching. That leaves one baby with us, and she's...

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, the more I look into it I see now that she has PT. Her condition has worsened since I took those videos...she can barely lift her head properly and is constantly on her side now, she still has strength to push her self around slightly..but nowhere near of how she was...

    Ear Infection, Tumor, Stroke? HELP!!

Do you think treating with Cabergoline would be more effective than bromo and dexamethosone? I was doing some research and that came up as a viable treatment option, then I remembered the vet who did her surgery before had written the same thing down, as a possible treatment option for growths...

    Ear Infection, Tumor, Stroke? HELP!!

Thanks for the reply. What will the bromo and dexamethosone do for her, will it allow her to eat on her own /drink on her own? If she has PT, how long can she live with it, comfortably? The vet didn't give us any metacam to take home so the last dose she would have had ( presuming that's what...

    Ear Infection, Tumor, Stroke? HELP!!

Thanks for the reply. I'm not so worried about her head tilt ( we can live with that), as I am with her current state. She was a very hyper rat, who wasn't a huge fan of being handled, and now she's just a slow very lathargic looking thing. I'm not sure if it's even an infection at this point...
