New rat, possibly pregnant

So this was this morning, we moved her last night.

Vestas doing good, day two in her own cage. She weighed 409g this morning, Rayo weighed 289 the day before she gave birth! She has to be due soon, her belly seems bigger then Rayo's was. I'm worried she won't be as lucky and Rayo who only had 6. If she has more then she can care for, would Rayo be able to nurse some or is there there too big of an age difference since Rayo's are just over a week old?? It's back to being nervous again! I can't wait for these babies to be born so that hopefully we can breath easier.

Moms can take care of a litter of 12 and more even. If the litter was close to 18, I'd be worried but that's not common.

So it has to be soon, she is so big! Any guesses as to what these babies will look like? The dad was the same as Rayo's babies, white with red eyes.

Still no babies! But a lot of nesting

How much is she gaining in a 24 hour period? This often can tell you how soon it will be. She looks like she could easily be carrying 12. :/

Idk, I didn't want to pick her up this morning, last we weighed her it was 480. Her stomach looks more angular and she wasn't as social, she wasn't aggressive but just didn't pay any attention to us when we cleaned her cage and kept building her nest so we didn't want to bother her. She's in a big clear tub (I bought a long one) since Rayo is in the other cage. She has a litterbox which is just a heavy glass pan so she won't dump it, it has small paper bedding as the litter.

If she's looking more low-down lumpy, then she might be giving birth soon. How long has it been since you brought them home again?

We brought them home on Thursday the 21st so this Thursday will be three weeks that we have had them.

15! Everyone with a milk band right now, there was a lot of blood so we cleaned it out. She was eating a carrot and drinking some protein shake while we looked at them.

We gave her a chinchilla house just because of how cool and damp it's been, that house stays warm.

Welcome to the world little ones! Any little runty babies? Since there's 15 babies, be prepared for her to shift-feed since she only has 12 nipples. She will move a small group of them outside of the main nest and take turns feeding each group.

Holy moly, she wasn't so lucky as your other one! That's a lot of babies, no wonder she got so big! I've been looking at her pictures just expected her to explode... She is gonna be one busy momma..

Yes, she definitely did not get as lucky as Rayo! She seems to be doing good so far she got a cheese and veggie omelet that she really seemed to like. I feel like she spends a little more time away from the nest then Rayo did but she's always laying right outside of it and the babies seem happy. I wil check on everyone again later this evening to make sure everyone is getting enough to eat, I am sure that will result in more pictures lol
