I work in a pet supply store, we carry frozen feeders but there's two guys I think that order live mice. Last Friday they sent two baby rats, I guess they were out of adult mice. They were bought but yesterday at work I saw one was back with a note saying to send back to the supplier. The guy was going to let her go outside because they were too big for his snake (I guess her sister was killed but not eaten ). My coworker told him to bring the rat back. We felt bad sending her back to that place, and sitting in a box terrified until Friday, their delivery day, so I took her in hopes I could find someone who would give her a home (I have boys and not looking to keep females).
I would say she looks no more than 5 weeks. I haven't handled her because she's scared of me (won't even take food, by hand or spoon), so I figured I'd give her some time and not grab at her. She's not too scared to explore her cage or run in the wheel though. Any tips to socialize her? I know of the forced socialization of putting them down your shirt but I don't know if I should do that yet if she won't come to me.
