Well it seems to me that what we previously accepted as "normal old rat behavior" is usually an outcome of declining kidney function. My almost-2 year old rat (with acute kidney failure) started popcorning around like a ratlet after his first dose of enalapril (kidney med)? Since this was part of a discussion with Dr. Munn (Greenwood Clinic, Toronto), I also have to suggest her as the most experienced with this condition. When I asked about diet, she recommended waiting for urinalysis results to see what his needs were.
