Long story short. Former snake feeder started to feel guilty. Didnt want the babies to be fed off so they contacted yours truly.

8 little girls
7 little boys
and one little agouti momma

but on the bright side, they are not black hooded rats :)

I am going to give them a few days. Maybe a week then I will split momma up from the boys. I think they are probably about 4ish weeks old so I should be ok. I want them to adjust though.

:rofl5: I'm so sorry, but I couldn't help myself - they are definitely not black hooded..... Babies are so adorable though! Just how many do you have now? Fourth pictures, are they boys or girls?

and I though 9 was a lot!! ;)

In addition to her personal rats she's running a rescue. Poor girl keeps getting rats dumped on her that no one wants anymore and more often than not she is told they are boys, but they end up being pregnant females!!

Yes they are boys. Scared to death I was told it was 10 babies. I guess who can count though right. To many lets not go there. I am posting on the site we are not accepting surrenders at this time.... LOL so it is closed for now. I am gonna do some intros and rearranging of the rats. to get some boys out of the way.

I was ok with 10.... i could fit that. this will make me rearrange a bit LMAO

babies usually go fast so i am hoping that is the case with these guys. Gonna put them on petfinder in the next few weeks.

I moved them into the playpen in the living room so they can hear "life" so they can be socialized. I am hoping this helps little momma out because she is not a fan of people. but she hasnt bitten yet so I think there is hope for her.

little baby balls!

Momma hates me but she has been through a lot. I will win her over though.

I think she is just feeder rat personality for now. She was eager to lick my hand when I put it in the cage with syrup on it but she is scared to death. I think a few days she will be better but she is giving this human fear to the babies so I have to get it out of her LOL

Theme names! I went with a cartoon for my boys. But you need a lot of names.

Those little baby balls!! I miss when my boys were teeny. The ball to body ratio doesn't change much though haha!! They always seem so large! Oh ratites!!

It is never an easy task to figure out how to turn rats that hate humans into pet friendly rats. I have been trying so hard to make my hands look better to them. I guess peas is the magic answer it brought all of them including momma to my hand.

They havent been so far they have had a nice variety. They ate cilantro and loved it and the veggies have been a hit so far. It is just getting them ok with my hand and the kissy sounds I make to them. I think that they are coming along well. I have to work on momma some more though. i will do more shirt time tonight. I think they feed off of momma and I need to split them up soon. I want a little break through before I do that to them.

I can see the agouti and black ones but the little one with the split cap is different. I dont think blue but i cannot tell.

What are all these considered? I know we have a bareback in the mix, a few hoodie rats and these capped ones i am unsure what they are called....
I guess she will be a Siamese.

Your little Siamese girl looks like she has a really faint split cap as well.
Do you have to worry about megacolon with some of these markings?

Most are high white but I think we would see signs by now. It seems to hit early or way late in life. I am gonna work on splitting them up this weekend so hopefully in smaller groups I can do a little more one on one socializing with them.
