I have a recent rescue girl (approx a year old) who I believe has the beginings of a ZG tumor. :sad3: She did have some yeast in her right ear, and we've been treating her with Otomax drops (along with baytril, doxy and neb treatments for her respiratory problems too). Last night, while I was working the Otamax in, I felt it. it's a little less than pea sized, but it's right at her temple/jaw line :cry3:
I've had several rat friends go through so much with ZG tumors on their babies, and it never ends well. One of my best friends had her ZG girl in for surgery with our own fabulous sugeon. he was able to get about 75% of the tumor (the rest was behind her skull plate, so he couldn't get to it). Arden lived almost another 6 months, before the ZG grew back and took her.
I had a girl with what we thought was a terrible ear infection we couldn't get ahead of. After 8 weeks of all kinds of meds, and a marcupialization surgery, we had to give up and let her go. Looking back, I'm pretty sure it too, was a ZG.
My Sadie is just a beautiful little girl, and I want to do all I can for her. But if all I can find is info that it will end badly, no matter what I try....I'm not so sure I want to put her through a few surgeries etc. Maybe I should keep her comfy as long as I can, then let her go when it becomes time.
Anyone had any luck with a ZG tumor recovery?
Thankfully, Sadie is currently doing fine otherwise. she doesn't even notice the lump just yet.
