First time rat owner, first time losing one... thought of this when he became ill...
Your cutest little hands used to grab my clothes so tight.
Now they are limp, your favorite food does not allure a bite.
I still remember that day when you first came home,
little chubby ball of fur. Now you are merely skin and bones.

Like helpless parents losing a child, we can only grief.
