My pet rat has an abscess by one of her lower incisors. My vet thinks that the root of the tooth is infected and that its preventing the abscess from healing. As a result the tooth will need to be removed at the root. For what I gather this is a fairly complicated procedure and as a result they have refereed me to a specialist in Madison WI. I am waiting to hear back from them with an estimated price but I have a feeling it is not going to be cheap. I feel horrible putting my pet rat down just because I can not afford the surgery. Does anyone have any recommendations on vets who might be cheaper, or has anyone else been through this? Im willing to travel to other states if I can find a vet that can do the procedure for a reasonable price but Im not even sure where to begin to look.
