The babies have been mostly split up now. 2 boys went off to their new home in Ohio today. The roly poly babies are living with their same sex siblings and mommas if they are girls. They adjust well to the cage but they walk up the ramps funny. They kinda go sideways and hold the side of the ramps to go up. As they age I will be getting different cages, I have to do intros lessen cages and work on rearranging the rat room to fit them in there better but I will get it done for them.

Noels babies are doing better. They had a growth spurt and are getting bigger. The black little girl and 2 hooded rats are improving. I am leaving them in the playpen for the night so they can work on building up their legs in a bigger space.

I will be doing testing on them to find out what it is that they have. This will end up being a heath update thread and a learning experience for us all.

Yea they are so sweet, I'm downsizing my crew and most are dying off,if I didn't have my limit of three already I'd def. want some of these special ones, I have a soft spot for handicaped people especially animals, they need love too.

I'm jealous hope' that they picked u to bless with their presence, enjoy them! :)

I sent home 3 more babies today. Now to put ads up for the rest now that they are split up better. You can see how bad noels girl walks. I really think she is one of the top contenders for the xrays when I can. The other one will be the boy. I have all the babies split up now, and all the mommas and babies in a cage and all the boys in the cage.
 
Liam has his willy stuck out a bit today, I put some lube on it and I am gonna watch it and see how it is in the morning. If it is still out then I will soak in some epsom salt or something.

The size difference is still great, the bigger one is only 8 days older so it shouldnt be that grand but these babies are from Noel's litter and smaller. They do well in the cage so I am leaving them with the other girls until i see a reason to split them apart.
 
Liam has his willy stuck out just a bit. I lubed it up twice today but I am going to try to ice it a bit to see if that will help. I am not sure what else I can try, epsom salt soaks? warm baths? cooler baths? It seems swollen and i am kinda worried I havent dealt with this before but he has swelling area around it. Maybe, again i have no experience with this LOL

We all know I worry a lot and these babies are going to be a huge worry LOL because I am watching them closely for anything that will tell me what is happening with them..

He took the icing like a champ. He just sat there, would squirm but mostly stayed where I needed him to. So sweet looking.

Metacam and a water based lubricant is the go to treatment for paraphimosis I believe. I hope it's cleared up now that you iced it.
 
I lubed him up so much, he probably thinks i am a perv the poor guy which bath would be better? warmer cooler? he needs something ice isnt helping. I am to worried to fill him up with meds with him being only 5 weeks old. I gave him ibuprofen but anything else worries me
 
Liam was checked by the vet today, he doesnt have it stuck out but rather it stays out. He pulls it back in a bit and it will come back out. It may be due to his issues but it isnt stuck, drying out or in bad shape. He will be neutered on next Friday so when he does that he will pull more skin up to help cover his penis.

Has anyone ever heard of that before?
 
My boy Techno had this problem when he was at his worst state, we determined that due to his URI or ammonia, he was so deyhdrated despite my efforts to give him water and food through a syringe, that his penis would stick out, even dry out too had i not kept it moist, not even pushing it back in with all the methods everyone suggested here helped.

But he doesn't look dehydrated so that can't be it, sorry I'm no help :(
 
I think i will be seeing some strange things with these babies. It will be a learning curve for all of them and us.

I was worried it was physiological, rather than something that happened. Something grew wrong I guess. Poor little Weiner :(
 
I am just unsure about the "fixing the skin" it is like a little ratty plastic surgery. We will see how it goes i guess.
 
It dawned on me a little bit ago that i was worried about how Roo's (pew boy with the same issues) penis looked. I remember asking shelagh and we decided it was ok. I looked at his tonight and you can see the tip of his as well(not nearly as bad as Liams). The 3rd boy with problems doesnt seem to have issues yet. I am thinking this is a side effect of their leg issues some how, maybe it is a muscle issue with their legs.
 
Poor little boys, long as they aren't uncomfortable, but it doesn't look it from the vids :p
