I think I'll show you guys the rats we share our home with..
We've lost a few over the last couple of monts - I just hate went they get old.
    Let's start with the girls..
    date/month-year

LUX Lilo - black hooded, born 06/12-07
Lilo is born here with us. She's the sweetest girl who just can't sit still.
All checking out what's going on.

VNR Pico del Teide - russian blue self dumbo, born 26/12-07

Baby Ratz Chepi - agouti berkshire husky dumbo rex, born 02/08-08
Chepi is allways ready to talk. She stands at the gate waiting to be talk to and cuttle with.

Lullu - black hooded fuzz, born 25/04-08
We got Lullu from a person who couldn't have her rats anymore (and sister Kiwi).
Lullu is a very sweet but very small girl.

Kiwi - black berkshire fuzz, born 25/04-08
We got Kiwi from a person who couldn't have her rats anymore (and sister Lullu).
Kiwi is a very playful girl who just loves attention.

That was the girls. Some time in november SCSI will move in. She's a beautyful burmese berkshire girl. And from our A litter we will keep Lira who's a russian blue berkshire dumbo rex.
    _______

    Now the boys.
    date/month-year

MyRats Ozzy - black berkshire husky, born 15/12-07
Ozzy is not that fond of attention. He's just himself.

VNR Stromboli - black self dumbo rex, born 26/12-07
Nickname Billi. Billi is the alfa in the boys cage. He's allways ready to cuttle and loves attention.
    A sweet and calm alfa.

Cats Equinal - mock cinnamon berkshire dumbo, born 04/01-08
Nickname Equi. Equi is my baby - and he knows it.
He's just so beautyful, calm and allways seeking my attention.

Milo - seal point siamese, born 31/01-08
Milo is a biiig boy. He doesn't like to cuttle that much - but he loves to eat.

Cats Riko - Chinchilla agouti berkshire with headspot dumbo, born 22/04-08
Riko is one of the most beautyful rats I have ever seen. He is the only chinchilla agouti rat in Denmark at this time. He's a long, calm and very sweet boy.

Kemo - black berkshire rex, born 05/02-08
Kemo is a biiig boy - not long but fat.
He loves food and just can't get enough. He's my baby and turns into jello in my hands.

Blackies King Louie - amber hooded, born 29/06-08
Louie is a big and beautyful boy. He's not so old but has a big heart.

Tut-Zoo Kodak - russian blue point black eyed siamese, born 01/06-08
I can't describe Kodak with words. He is absolutly wonderful.
He kisses me all the time and just wants to snuggle with me. Kodak is my babyboy - and he knows it.

Tut-Zoo Pilot - agouti hooded dumbo rex, born 21/07-08
The Pilot is a beautyful agouti-boy. My boyfriend fell inlove with the Pilot's dad and we just had to have one of the babies. So the Pilot moved in - and we are very thankful. He's wonderful.

Tut-Zoo Space - Black hooded with headspot DU dumbo (manx)
Space is from the same litter as the Pilot. Manx in Denmark is a big NO-NO!
So the breeder was very upset when Space turned up in the litter. We offered Space a home so he lives with us.
Eventhough he's tailless, he's just like every rat. Plays, jumps, crawls and so on.

Well... Simpel.. Because of the fact that their tail is a part of their spine..
Not having the tail can cause the rat severe back problems.

Furthermore, there is no telling how far up the spine the tail might end..
If the tail is so short that the spine doesn't connect to the hips, or simply is too short, it can result in fatal problems such as incontinence...
Manx rats are generally not bread after here in Denmark, because of the risk for litters that can't survive...

Oh ok :) Yeah I knew about the spine problem but I thought maybe it was illegal or something and the breeder was going to get into trouble or the rat was going to have to be put down!

Oooh no not at all :D
The breeder was just very sad because of the life Space might get.
But he's a lucky boy and has no problems.
In the litter was another manx - Ice. He was put down when he was 3 weeks old - incontinence..

It's not illegal, but the breeder will definitely get in trouble here, if rumor spreads that he/she breeds manx...
Somehow breeders here "live" on their reputation..

The pics are amazing, do you work the background to make it white?

Firben, you might as well keep adding to this thread since the rats are yours too. :wink2:

    Thank you!
I do the pictures and the website graphics, Sofie does the writting :cheeky:
We actually use a white table top to take pictures on, and edit the backround..
It's not always an easy job, but absolutely worth it..
The most important part of taking the pictures, is the lightning..

My manx girl seems to be clumsier then my other rats. She falls A LOT more. But otherwise she is a normal rattie....

Ok quick question-are manx rats born without tails or are they cropped? Either or does not sound right-why would you want a tailess rat?!? I love my rat tails! and how they curl around your fingers or whip against my cheek....I love me some rat tails!
