After a rather lengthy period of getting to know each other, Milo has moved in with Raven, Cleo, and Rook. He still likes having time to himself, but he can often be found snuggling with Cleo, awkwardly attempting to groom Raven, or wrestling with Rook.

In other news, Chess is still a happy bachelor who is occasionally up for a visit from his brother. He's become more human-social; while he still doesn't like being picked up, he happily comes out on the bed (no coaxing required) for an hour or more at a time to explore and have treats. This is a huge step for him.

@SQ -- While Chess is becoming more social and enjoys the occasional visit with Rook, his respiratory problems are bad enough that neutering him would be a significant risk. Right now, we're just keeping him as comfortable as we can for as long as we can. He has good days and bad days; we try to give him as much love as he'll let us on the good days, and on the bad days, we let him spend as much time out as he needs, usually nestled in his favourite crinkly-paper-filled box on the bed or racking up frequent Octoflyer miles.

The ladies keep trying to persuade us to let them visit him, too, but we have politely declined those offers on Chess' behalf. (Not only have we signed a contract stating that the ladies would not have contact with the gents until folks were fixed, but I'm pretty sure Raven would not survive a pregnancy. She's a tiny, tiny girl. Also, NO. Babies are adorable, but there are enough rats who need adopting without us being irresponsible enough to Alabama another two litters into the world.) He'll just have to content himself with wistful glances and a stack of tiny magazines for the discerning gentlebuck.
