I’ve got a girl rescue whom I rescued from an idiotic, money-crazed breeder. I’ve had a pregnant rescue before but this new girl is nowhere near as big as that rescue was. I know some can conceal their pregnancies. However, I’ve noticed some nesting behaviors. Her nipples seem to be like they’re more noticeable. I woke up this morning to check on her and her vagina is wide open. I’ve noticed her looking kind of like she’s pushing from the belly down but it doesn’t appear to be labor contractions. At least, it doesn’t look like it. She looks really uncomfortable. And this afternoon I checked on her again and found that when she looks like she’s pushing from the belly down a sort of thick pinkish discharge starts to come out of her vagina but then sucks back inside. Was I too late? Is she pregnant? Is something wrong with her? What’s going on???

Could this be a prolapsed uterus? I was going to say she looks like she recently gave birth. But I could be wrong. By recent, I mean like within the last few weeks. Unless Lilspaz, jorats, or SQ has a better idea, I'd say take her to the vet. She may need an emergency spay. Especially if she seems to be in obvious pain. She is cute though. Does she have a cagemate? Also, what is her bedding?

I’ve never had a rat with a prolapsed uterus. As far as I know it’s been awhile since she’s given birth and he was trying to breed her again because she “made him lots of money with 22 babies” I took her to the vet when I got her (it’s been 22 days) and he said she was skinny but healthy. She had tons of cage mates with her old owner, here she has 4 cage mates but she’s currently alone because I removed her when I started noticing she wasn’t doing so hot. Her bedding is Aspen Shavings
