Omg so freaking CUTE!!! I just wanna hug and squeeze them all! When I went to DC, my daughter and I were so excited to see subway rats or street rats. Didn't see subway ones, but did see two in the sewer next to construction and restaurants. We were so excited and squealed, and got the strangest looks from passers-by. Hahaha!

Lookit the absolute adorable rats! Those wild ones are still pretty darn cute.

Oh, also... fun fact I learned while doing my project in my Ecology class. Pet rats and wild rats are scientifically distinct species, similar to dogs and wolves. Wild brown rats are just Rattus norvegicus, while our pet rats are Rattus norvegicus domestica. This means our rats are genetically distant enough from their wild cousins to be classified differently! Wild rats, at least I've noticed, tend to have smaller heads and shorter tails.
