My boy was diagnosed with an upper respiratory and he refused to take the baytril. I tried mixing it in yogurt, in honey, in anything. Its so frustrating when they wont take the meds that will make them better.

I finally found a solution. My vet called the baytril into BCP pharmacy in Texas, USA. After she called in the script I called to pay and the meds were shipped directly to my home within 2 days. They were able to compound the baytril into a chewy treat. I was able to pick the flavor, I chose peanut butter flavoring. Other options included bananna, apple, cherry ect. I have used this same type of medicated chewy treat for my cat when she had a bladder infection. I chose fish flavor for her.

It was a life saver! They eat it up like candy. I had to supervise my rat because others would try to rip the medicated treat out of his hands to steal it. It comes in different sizes and flavors. See the pics. The smaller treat in the pic was for my cat, it comes in the smaller size if you choose a meat flavor (liver, chicken, fish) and it will be a bigger size treat if you choose a fruity flavor or peanut butter. Each medicated treat is individually packaged. Both of mine were soft and chewy but not pasty or sticky. My rattie was prescribed to take 1/2 chew daily since the chew came in the larger size.

By law in Oregon, USA, if you ask for it, your vet must call your prescription into the pharmacy of your choosing or provide a written script for you to take where you like. It is similar in many states but not all. Im sure most vets would be happy to provide a script that you could fax or email if they dont want to call.

Mine called BCP directly and asked them to bill and ship to the owner (me). She gave the quantity/ strength/ directions and then said for them to let me choose the flavor. I then called BCP to pay and choose my flavor. They were super nice. Press 3 on the prompt to speak with a pharmacist. My vet placed the order with Sheila and I was able to ask for her specifically, she looked up my order, and gave me the flavor options. I would recommend asking for Sheila every time just because she was very knowledgeable and helpful.
