As you may be aware, the local SPCA took in 18 rats that were abandoned.
They are in cages where many get a direct draft from the outdoors as there is no where else to put them.

I have the opportunity to purchase a double CN for $200 which we could outfit and put at the SPCA for rats,
starting with this group. This cage could be rolled so that it does not get a direct draft blowing on the rats.
The only thing is that we would have to move fast before the cage is gone.

Two of the 18 rats were sent to Saint John, thefriggintribe took in a very badly injured boy, and I took in Christmas - an aggressive one eyed boy. I believe that 3 others have been adopted, leaving 11 rats from this group.

Donations towards the purchase of Harlan Tech 2014 or towards the double CN ($200), a wheel, and pickup & transport of cage, would be appreciated if anyone is interested and in a position to help.
I will post as soon as I have something lined up for donations.
Thank You

Is it time to go to a new home?

Does this cage look ok to you? Or should we just forget the whole thing?
(See kijiji ad: http://newbrunswick.kijiji.ca/c-pets-ac ... Z329889753 )
They will sell it to us for $200

Money will to go toward the CN cage, getting it here from Moncton, a wheel and/or Harlan Tech 2014 ordered from Flower Town Chinchilla.
Please mark on all donations that it is for the SPCA.

CN is $200, a 33 Ib bag of Harlan is about $55 with shipping

Awesome! We are getting donations.

So far at $40.
Keep them coming, the faster the better so we can get this to them. :)

EDIT! Now at $90!!! Come on people, we can do this!!!

Now it's at $105!!! Woohoo you guys are wonderful!

SWEET! Now at $135!!! ----> now at $139.60 Every little bit counts!

SQ is trying to contact the SPCA but each time she goes over, the manager is not there. We didn't get enough for the cage so all the donations will go for food.

I'm offering one of these pouches up for sale with 100% of the money go towards these rats

$11.50 for folks in Canada, $12.50 for folks in the US (other countries ask)

Pls PM jorats and arrange payment with her and once it's paid, let me know the address jorats and I'll mail it out.

We are now at $152.10.
It sounds like the SPCA doesn't have room for the cage which is fine since the cage must be sold by now. But they will get plenty of food and whatever else they need.
It was a great effort... You guys ROCK!

I spoke to the manager of the SPCA today and showed her pictures of CNs.
She is very excited by the prospect of the rat community donating a CN to be used by rats at the SPCA awaiting good homes.

So .....
If you can, please donate so we can get this cage before it sold to someone else.

Wish list:
- funds to cover the cost of the cage ($47.90 left to go)
- transport of cage from Moncton NB to Fredericton, NB
(I could drive there and back if no one else can but I do not have money to pay for gas and my credit card (used for rat medical expenses & food) is over its limit :( )
- items to outfit the CN:
- donations of a couple of silent spinners
- litter boxes, 2 rat balls to hang, 2 chew logs, hammocks, etc

Not only will this give rats waiting at the SPCA a good home to live in,
this will also help to educate adopters about good care of ratties.

Please help these rats if you can.

I phoned and it is available !
( I have been emailing them repeatedly since people here on the ratshack decided this cage was a good idea)

:joy:
