Hello! My rats have become my life in only the six months I’ve had them and I love them so much. I can’t believe such little animals can steal our hearts! 😍 Pepper is my best friend and she is the oldest of my rats. She had been getting this orange marking on her white fur (she’s a black hooded). It’s only on the ends of her fur and only on the white part. She doesn’t itch and seems uneffected by it. Im worried because I want her to have the best life possible and I hope I’m not missing something or making her uncomfortable. She doesn’t seem to be acting weird or abnormal but let me know what you think it is and what I might be able to do about it. It kind of looks like buck grease but she’s a girl so that’s not possible right? Non of the other three have this. I’ll attach pictures. Thank you!

can't really see it from the pics but it sounds like porphryin staining or transference. That natural red discharge can get on the inside of their wrists and stain when they groom themselves, or sometimes another rat will lick them. A bit unsightly at times, but nothing to worry about :)

Thank you! I’m glad there’s nothing wrong. I love her so much and I’m so lucky to have her in my life😍
