I am a first time rat owner with 3 boys. I am using back to nature litter and bedding. My parents are pressuring me into getting a tote to keep the litter in or else I will supposedly get bugs. I have never heard of an open bag of animal litter getting bugs but is this true? I feel like they just want me too get it so they can yell at me about wasting money but I'm not sure.

I keep my yesterday's news in an empty (brand new) small trashcan with a flip top lid. I keep a scoop in there (an old measuring cup) and it's super convenient. I had just kept it in the bag, and rolled it down when I was done, but kept spilling it. The trashcan I use, I got from Walmart, and a 30 pound bag fits perfect in it. But I have never had bugs in mine, and we live in Texas, in hot humid climate. The only bugs I worry about getting in a bag of litter is spiders. I've had that happen on more than one occasion.
