One of a bonded pair passed away. What next?

we had an unfortunate incident today where one of our rats passed away.(not from disease) We had 2 females who are 5 months old. Now we just have the one and I want to know how soon to get a new rat. I did some research and think ASAP or tomorrow. I’m hoping we can find one of similar age and bond them. I’m planning on a new cage so they meet in neutral territory. Any other suggestions. I’m so sad about our poor baby but don’t want our other one to be lonely.

Yes, she will benefit from having a friend asap

If possible, find a rat that has been quarantined since you likely will not have the resources to do that
Otherwise you run the risk of the new rat having an airborn rat disease that your remaining girl could catch
