Hello everybody. I am from the Philadelphia area and a new rat mommy to 4 female rats. Ronnie (a feeder rat my son fell in love with), Snowy, Dump Truck and Bitey (all who are rescues). I always wanted a rat as a pet and they are as cute and smart as I always thought they would be.

What would be good treat for them? I have experience with guinea pigs but not rats.

I'd try Wheat Thins or Triscuits but they have so much salt.
Little pieces of toasted whole wheat bread. Maybe with a bit of peanut butter on it.
Raw corn. Some say cooked corn is bad for ratties.
Lots of stuff is great for rat treats. All things in moderation. Just keep their main diet good. Harlan-Teklad blocks, Oxbow, etc..
Rats are great! My wife hated the rats at first, now she loves them to death. They are like tiny friendly dogs..

I forgot. Rats love pancakes. I'm not sure how good it is for them, but they love pancakes, and probably waffles!

Please do not feed rats unhealthy things - nothing with added sugar (feeds cancer), added salt, or added fats or GMOs
The treats sold in pet stores, such as yoggies, are sugar and sunflower seeds are ok in moderation but they are very fattening

btw corn raw or cooked is safe, as long as it is organic - because GMO corn is designed to kill rats and other small animals
