Hello,

A poor 8 months old dog named Teddy was hit by a car near Bouctouche, NB last week and was left to die underneath a shed because the owners could not supposedly provide care. Someone contacted the Kent County Animal Rescue to rescue Teddy. Teddy was in major pain and it took a few hours to coax him from underneath the shed. He was rushed to the Coverdale Vet clinic. After examination Teddy it was determined that he had a hole near his testicule caused by the accident because the injury was not looked after right away and is infected to the point of causing an abscess. In addition, Teddy has a severely damaged leg that requires surgery or be amputated. Teddy is still at the vet clinic receiving antibiotics and pain medication. Sadly, the Kent County Animal, a small rural shelter, does not have the funds for Teddy's surgery ($2,000) and is seeking donations. Unfortunately, no charges against the owners was filed - that's NB laws for you.

Here's is Teddy's story (on Facebook) and a video of his rescue:

My gosh, I can't believ that that happened.....

I used to be a veterinary nurse in the UK and we saw all sorts of things but...

Where is Teddy now? I would be happy to make a small donation if that would help...can't afford much but..

Thanks

Keri

There is some good news regarding Teddy! :joy: The vet clinic performed surgery yesterday on Teddy and it was a success - they were able to save his leg. The local newspaper (The Times & Transcript) reported that the vet clinic was bombarded with calls and money and had plenty to cover the surgery. They also said that any extra money will be used to cover the cost of his medication and such while he recovers. In addition, according to the Kent County Animal Rescue Teddy will not be returning to his previous owner but will be up for adoption once he fully recovers. They will be screening potential adopters carefully, considering what he's been through.

All who donated, thank you.

It warms my heart when I hear stories of people coming together to help animals. I tend to harp on all the negative stories so it's nice to have a happy ending. Now, hopefully he'll find a loving home.

It's so awesome that he survived a week of hell and pain and now has a second chance at life.

It's also awesome that we do have this social networking ability so that more help can come from all corners of the earth. Yay for Teddy!
