My friends and I have recently moved into a home. The rats were moved in by the end of the week, and that was when I noticed that two of mine have some scabbing that would indicate mites. I just got paid and I bought kitten Revolution today. But something occurs to us. Our cat (6 months old) will be moving in with us within the week.

Is he likely to also pick up mites, or do rat mites specifically live on them? Also, if he is likely to get them, is it safe to preemptively treat him as soon as he moves in, or to wait and see if they start to bother him?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I get a little weird and paranoid about how to care for our cat.

Mites/Lice are specie specific so your cat should be alright. Fleas however, can jump from animal to animal, animal to human...
