My older rat seems to be way more into petting/cuddling. My younger rat not so much. Is it a matter of age or time socializing?

Older rats, especially boys, tend to slow down, and enjoy being cuddled and pet more than younger, more energetic rats. Females may slow down and become more cuddly, but usually boys tend to be lazier. :p That's the reason I have 3 boys and 3 girls. I enjoy the energy and curiosity of the girls, but my boys are super cuddly. It's only after she has explored, and ran for about 30-45 mins before my oldest girl macaroni (almost 2 years) will come back, crawl up to my shoulder, and curl up to sleep.

My old male rats are now extremely cuddly. Before, they were never big on getting kisses and snuggles, but now they'll settle into my lap and take a quick nap. They also tolerate me kissing their heads more often now.
Very cute rats, Dena! I'm jealous!

That's just my oldest female rat, Macaroni. She's such a sweet, gentle old lady! Créme, her daughter, looks almost exactly like her, just in a much bigger form! ;):p
