Hi everyone. I just introduced myself :) A funny thing happened the other day. While taking the bus with my rabbit, a girl on the corner asked us for directions to the same vet with her rats! We were going to exchange info later but she wasn't there when we were done. Her name is I think Sharlot, and she was very nice and knowledgeable on rats, and mentioned a Canadian rat group. Is this it? Does anyone know who I'm talking about, or can point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance. I love rats, so nice to meet you all.

Welcome to the forum!! :)

This forum was started by Jorats who lives in Ontario.
A few years ago she sold it to someone in the USA who makes money off advertising on forums.
This forum has many members in Canada (many in your area), and the moderators are Canadian.
We also have many members in the USA, the EU, and other countries

We are a rescue based forum and do not support breeding rats.
The Reference Thread is a good place to find information https://www.ratshackforum.com/threads/reference-thread-read-only.35894/

I would recommend:
1. All Creatures Rescue - in Toronto http://allcreaturesrescue.ca/
2. Ottawa Pet Rat Rescue http://allcreaturesrescue.ca/

Both of these rescues also have facebook pages

I would avoid Charlotte Stanley as she breeds but she's not a very ethical breeder if that's who you met. It's Better to rescue anyways. Which vet did you go to? Dr. Munn is back in Toronto now and who I would recommend.

There are also many rats and accidental litters being rehomed by their owners (please ignore the breeder posts) on Kijiji etc, as well as ratties in shelters
All of these sweet little rescue ratties are in need of good homes
