Is masking tape rat-safe?

I heard clear packing tape is rat-safe & that duck tape isn't, & I wouldn't use duct tape either, but how about masking tape??

That's a good question and honestly, I've used both around rats for over 15 years and I've not seen anything off with them. They do chew a bit but it doesn't look like they ingest. Same with duct tape.
