I did a quick google search and it appears that the lavender oil is used as a rodent repellent.
Yet there is a study on lavender and calming rats or affecting their serotonin levels, increasing it.
So... ya, I don't know. I personally wouldn't do it.

It is confusing, I agree . I saw similar things, but was hoping someone here would have more concrete information. I mostly am wondering if it's safe for cleaning the cage and spritzing it to take away the pee smell. I have 4 unfixed boys :D I grow the lavender and then boil it, then use the lavender in a spray bottle to clean . I am not going to use it directly on them though.

I think it would be fine, just not the essential oil. Many essential oils derived from foods that are safe can be used as repellents because they're very strong and irritating. Lavander is safe to eat though so I think lavander water should be fine as long as it's not too concentrated.
